VMS-66 NEUMANN LATHE's
« on: September 08, 2012, 09:59:10 PM »

Now that Albert Grundy has passed, I feel completely lost and I haven't the heart to bother the only other person who I have asked for help in the past. (Paul Gold) Im sure he is probably too busy to help me.
-
I own a VMS-66 Neumann lathe with an SX-74 cutterhead.
As far as I can hear, the cutterhead is fine. However, I checked the lathe tonight (like i do at least every 48 hours) and noticed an unusual amount of heat rising from the control module (2 belt driven motors that control lines per inch etc etc) and the belts had broken off. Simple fix I know. HOWEVER, both of the motors were running by themselves and the STOP button would not stop them. So I was forced to actually power off the machine until I can figure out what to do.
-
Folks, you have no idea how lost and screwed up I feel , having discovered the loss of my friend AND discovering this problem with my namesake (machine) within the same 10 minutes.
-
Albert and Paul restored this machine themselves. So this means a lot to me.
-
Does anyone know whom I may speak to or possibly know what I can do ?
-
Sincerely and with all respect my heart can muster- Chris "Cutter" Benson
