source to replace ball and capsule foam
« on: August 26, 2012, 09:09:00 PM »

I recently bought a few use (circa 1991) Sony WRT-810A handheld transmitters for use outside the USA.  I opened up the grills, noticed a lot of degraded foam lying around and blew,... Big mistake.  The thin quarter-sized piece of foam over the capsule disappeared along with half of the foam in the grill.

I can't find any parts online for these mice so I am thinking I need to find and fit some foam from another mic, or try to replace the entire grille (the grilles are pretty beat up).  The grille are not quite round like an SM58, they are a little more elongate like a Sennheiser, but not quit so elongate.  The grille threads are larger than a beta 58A and smaller than an OM-7.

Inside dimensions of the grille foam are ~1 3/8-" diameter and 1 1/4" in height.  Capsule foam is 1 3/32"

An ideas?

If I can find some foam to put over the capsules, how do I attach it?
