I am in need of suggestions for professional repair (or junking) of 2 km84i's that took a dive off a 14' microphone stand. Both mics have damage to the capsules and the body. They do produce sound but have loose parts on the capsule itself. I've owned these mics for over 20 years and I'd rather not see them lost if possible. Thank you for any suggestions.

In what country do you live?
The capsules are still available from Neumann if they need replacing.
Martin Gathard in the UK (Sennheiser UK) is a master at Neumann repairs (he has been doing it over 30 years) and is a master at getting dents and bashes out of microphone bodies.
So - if you are in the UK, talk to Martin Gathard at Sennheiser UK.
If you are in the USA, I would talk to Sennheiser/Neumann USA.

Thanks John. I am in the USA. I was told by Neumann USA that capsules are not available.

That KM8x capsules and housing tubes are no longer available as spare parts from Neumann/USA is news to me.
Often KM8x capsules that took a hit are repairable, and their performance can be restored to factory specs.

That was several years ago I sent them to Neumann (perhaps it was Gotham then?) and they told me they did not have parts for them. Could you advise who to send them to for repair? Should I re-contact Neumann?

Please contact Martin Schneider in Berlin: schneidm@neumann.com
He will tell you authoritatively what parts are or are no longer available for your mics at this time.

Thank you. I will need to send them to someone as I can't tell what needs / can be replaced.

Martin Schneider will confirm if the capsules are available or not (I am pretty sure they are) and then talk to Uwe Sattler at Sennheiser/Neumann USA who will advise on repair.

Just a comment on Neumann USA parts dept. I recently sent a message to them asking about the availability and cost of new elastics for a pair of EA-21s. After several emails with no replies, I got in touch with Martin Schneider. He evidently woke up the folks here in the U.S. who responded the next day with the information and how to order.
