WUMP 2012 is here!
« on: April 09, 2012, 05:08:46 PM »

Hello Audio personnel’s ..

I sense our first WUMP of 2012, coming on!
Firstly, we need an interesting mix to hammer home.

Once we have that in the bag, we’ll open the doors to participants and set the first WUMP of 2012, in motion.
Tell me, tell me … what mixes do we hold in our coffers?

KAyo,

It's been so long. Maybe a remedial explanation of WUMP would be a good idea.

Thanks,

I concur Greg.

WUMP is a group of engineers/ members of  the PSW forum, collectively challenging their engineering skills to the same piece of audio presented.
WUMP is also a great way to study; what you're attaining as an engineer in comparison to other engineers, right or wrong, or perhaps learning a thing or two from what others are achieving. It's an opportunity and a learning experience for all participating engineers, regardless of ultra-experience.

- what's most enjoyable about a WUMP?
Working towards a suitable master and comparisons between different masters.

- number of participants in a WUMP?
Upper limit is around  8 to 10max participants per group, to maintain a healthy and fruitful listening and reviewing experience.

- time between upcoming WUMP’s?
We aim to have a WUMP every three months or so.

- tech notes, do they work for you, and are they useful?
Participants have an opportunity to understand and gain from other peoples approaches, methods and tactics. Understanding the style, is brought to clarity in the mastering tech notes.

- what gear can one use to master the audio?
There are no restriction as to what a participant uses to gain a master.

More information is presented after the groups are sorted and organized.
Information on Deadline, formats and delivery settings and set-ups.

What do you guys think about having the samples made anonymous during the review period? There are a lot of engineers who I respect in this WUMP, I can't help but wonder if it might influence our listening.

Has this been done before?
