Just got one of these new DACs to try out.

Defo different to my benchmark, seems brighter, but I don't know whether thats just because it's being more revealing up there.. watch this space.

Hoping to hear some professional reviews of the Dacmagic Plus. It actually appears to be a very smart and well developed DAC, even though it's targeted at the mid-audiophile consumer market. There's some pretty smart stuff going on in there, very good opamps, jitter dealings, componentry, refinements, etc. Theoretically it could be a contender. Some recommend the upgraded power supply as well. Curious too...

although these are sales pitches, they mention a few "findings" also by folks who are generally trusted.

This review is just a bit weird, gives it 4 stars and says it doesn't sound very good (which I can't agree with at all).

Flicking between the different digital filters while QCing this project and I can confirm the steep filter sounds pretty shitty, kinda makes it sound like the midrange is in a cardboard box, not really sure why they included it to be honest, seems pretty useless... linear phase is sounding the best so far which goes in line with my (not massive) understanding on DAC filter circuits.
