Cable from P/S to Mic for KM54 & Schoeps CM61 - the same?
« on: February 20, 2012, 01:44:00 PM »

Is a P/S to Mic cable for the a Neumann KM-54 compatible for use with a Telefunken (Schoeps) CM-61?

Thanks.

The connector is the same DIN connector as used in Neumann's KM5x series. And therefore, in theory the cable with these connectors is compatible, too.

But you need to pay attention to the connector terminations/pin out which I am not familiar with in the CM61.

The reason this may be important is that many high quality tube mic cables have thicker conductors for ground and heater than for the other conductor functions. If you have such a cable, make sure you use the thicker conductors for ground and for tube heater.

Yep, I knew the connectors were the same, but did not want to try the KM54 cable on the CM61 without checking first. I have older, original cables for each that I can reference for pin outs.

Thanks for the advice.
