Hello,

For than pasted several years I have been mastering at my home studio & ITB at a very affordable rate in order to keep busy while gaining experience in mastering, since I was just starting out in this business. Recently I have been accepted to freelance out of one the best mastering studios in Canada with a great sounding room and great analog & digital gear (can wait to use the Weiss EQ & Comp plus the Shadow Hills MC, among the other pieces of equipment).

Now I'm not sure how I should change my web presence, as I'm not part of the team there full-time as of yet and have to bring in my own clients until I can prove my worth. Currently my home studio is Elite Mastering (elitemastering.com) but I not convinced I should be still using that name as it doesn't have that ring.....Elite Mastering freelancing out of.....

My initial thought was to create a new profile/web presence under something like Marra Mastering (marramastering.com) but I have spent years building my name under Elite....I guess I'm too attached...LOL.

Have any of you had any experience with this or can offer some advice, as it would be greatly appreciated?

Thank you,
Mike

Mike,

As you may know I went through a somewhat similar situation a few months ago. For me it was a little more straight forward as I was leaving a business and starting my own and I'm now working out of a different studio but as "Allen Corneau Mastering".

I'd say stick with the "Elite Mastering", since you are EM and EM is you. You can completely re-work your webpage to show your new situation: sessions at the new studio and/or sessions at your home studio. Nothing wrong with that.

Oh, and congratulations on your new situation!

Thank you Allen as I do remember that you were somewhat in the same situation.

I am very excited to start freelancing out of this studio, by the way it is called Joao Carvalho Mastering, as Joao is a great person and so is his team. Again thank you for all your support and advice......and Thomas I am getting closer to achieving your signature quote...LOL.

Yes it is a great sounding room and the team/staff there are really friendly & helpful...especially the owner & Chief Mastering Engineer, Joao Carvalho.

Being a relatively young mastering engineer I hope to learn as much as possible, from Joao & the team, so I can prove to the studio that I can someday be part of the team on a permanent basis.

Thank you again everyone for your help as it is greatly appreciated.
