It seems like we have a new moderator... Dana White from Specialized Mastering. (At least that what my forum page says.)

Congrats Dana!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome!  Fletcher got the ball rolling and here we are.

In case you're wondering who I am, here's a little background:

Back in the early nineties as a wide eyed young gun out of ULowell's SRT program I was a mastering intern with Toby Mountain at NDR (Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Elvis Costello) and kicking around recording studios getting hazed by guys like Fletcher.  ;D

Also worked in radio production and ended up spending a long time as a "Plant Guy". PQ Codes anyone? That wasn't all that fun, so I went to work for 9West Mastering, a place that had a ton of indie mastering work at the time.  Lot's of Punk and Singer/Songwriter stuff going through there in those days.  Henk, the owner retired to FL, and I started Specialized Mastering in that room.  That was in early 2001.  In 2006 I moved to Portland OR and built this room.  I still go back to the Boston area regularly, as a lot of my client base is there, and we've been able to keep the room alive.

About the forum, I probably don't need to say much since Brad Blackwood set the table very well, as you know!

This has been my favorite group for a long time and I'm happy to see it continue.  Let's keep the mood light and educate ourselves by reading and sharing along the way.

There's the beginnings of one going on there, but it comes in pretty gray these days, and the itching at two weeks is unbearable!  I wont be taking  Billy Gibbons' chair in ZZ Top anytime soon I'm afraid.

True on all counts, looking through the archives is a treat! That Sontec thread was epic.

Yes, colorful characters, ideas and egos at times.  I'm working out some the new policies for the forum.  Making it hospitable to all the courteous folks here, while being supportive to the color is important.

In the meantime we've got a WUMP underway!

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes everyone.

It's alive and well, seems like we're gathering momentum again.  The best part is, it's been feeling like a community.  I haven't had to lynch any posts yet.  Thanks to you all for contributing and being professional.
