Hello all,

WUMP 24 is on!
The last WUMP of 2011.

At present Fletcher is helping me, sort some server issues for our upload & downloads, until then, we have a chance to submit songs.

Any takers on that front? Some Hip-Hop, R&B Ballads or anything else that’s as usual, going to intrigue our tang and make the WUMP24 as interesting as always.

I'll try to figure out if I have something.

One thing I've always wanted to see in WUMP's is to see a client wish of making it as loud as possible without ruining it. So far we've had pretty sane tracks, but the loud request does come up now and then in real life. What do you think?

Anybody has something interesting that the group could use?

Jaako had an interesting take on, what we could challenge the group to achieve, this time round. LOUDNESS!!
Many clients for whatever reason (not a discussion here) request or sanction that, as their prerogative, so maybe we could find a mix that could allow us to venture into seeking LOUDNESS! I think it would be a great exercise doing this. How LOUD can one get it, while, still maintaining mix coherency and still preserving a pleasurable listening experience.

Let’s find that clean mix people?
I may have one, but, I’d like to leave it to the group first.

The rules of this traditional mastering jam-up on the PSW forum, are best explained by our mastering comrade, ATOR.

General info:

WUMP is a project where different engineers master the same mix, comment each other’s work and share what they did and why they did it.
The purpose of the WUMP is to demystify mastering and help each other become better engineers.

Participating in the WUMP means that you:
- make the best master you can in ten days time
- upload your master the last day of the deadline, not before, to the WUMP FTP folder
- download and comment on the other masters of your group
- post what you did to the mix
- discuss the outcome

There will be no revisions.

The WUMP FTP info will be sent to you in a PM.
You’ll need an FTP client to up-/download the files. Here are some freeware versions:
PC: Filezilla
Mac: Cyberduck

Format master:
- 16bit 44.1kHz WAV
- name: WUMPXX-yourname.wav (XX is the WUMP number)

To keep things simple and transparent we go with named files. If you feel that knowing the names will compromise your judgment you could find a way to listen blind.
