Whatever Works - The next generation
« on: February 28, 2011, 06:34:21 PM »

For those that have been around since the R/E/P forums began in March of 2004, you know we've had some of the best and brightest minds in the recording world grace our forum.  R/E/P has been the "cyber home" to guys like George Massenburg [who started with us in '04], Steve Albini, Chris Walla in addition to Ross Hogarth and Terry Manning... along with many [MANY!!] equally cool and talented participants!!!

While it was a fun bunch of years with Ross and Terry... the only constant in life is change, so change we did.  In addition to the new software - which will run faster and smoother than the old software, we have some new hosts and a couple of old faces here on "Whatever Works".  You all know Ross, so he needs no introduction... but some of the new guys might.

In case you've been living under a rock [or only have 4 or 5 weeks under your belt in this business] the "new guys" have been involved with recordings that have sold a fair measure over HALF A BILLION units [as in more platinum record sales award plaques than the largest Hard Rock Cafe could possibly house!!]... with that in mind, here is a brief introduction.

Michael Brauer: Starting his career in the mid-seventies at Media Sound in NYC [with guys like Bob Clearmountain, Mike Barbiero and Ron Saint Germain] he's gone on to amass an eclectic discography... and receive more than a few Grammy

We are selling emotions, there are no emotions in a grid

"Recording engineers are an arrogant bunch.
If you've spent most of your life with a few thousand dollars worth of musicians in the studio, making a decision every second and a half... and you and  they are going to have to live with it for the rest of your lives, you'll get pretty arrogant too.  It takes a certain amount of balls to do that... something around three"
