I didn't make it to Berlin. I was staying in Osterode, and had a business meeting in Braunschweig, but that was a close as I got. On the way back to Osterode, we decided to drive over the Hartz Mountain (sp?), and stopped at a beautiful little town called Goslar to get a cup of coffee. Wow, what an experience. It was a cool and misty evening, with incredible light. On the way over the mountain it started to snow, which made everything just that much more beautiful.
I'm sure most people have a place that feels like "home", presumably because of their heritage. For me, Germany is not it -- Scotland is -- but it is really eye-opening to visit small towns in faraway places and witness the differences and similarities to our own lives. I wish I could travel more.
Prost!
