New ISRC country code for US
« on: January 09, 2011, 11:18:26 PM »

Yep, just ran into it for CD project this weekend.

The new ISRC country code for US is QM.

I assume it's for new registrants this year 2011.

Reflective of the times, perhaps?

Quit Moanin'.

Quick - Money!

Wonder if there will be a replacement for GB as well at some point.

Quick Money LOL.

I've been wondering what they were gonna do when they ran out of characters.
The most recent registrant codes were beginning with the letter Z.
So I suppose changing the prefix is the perfect temporary solution for a few  years.

Yep.  Embedded some "QM" codes on a production master last night.  From an ISRC pdf bulletin dated 12/6/10:

"Once the current supply of US registrant codes is exhausted, new allocations of registrant codes by the US National ISRC Agency will use the user assigned code element “QM” as the country code."

God bless the QM of A.   Very Happy

I misunderstood--I thought all the other countries were "THEM".

Well, I am glad I came across these posts.  Just had a client send in codes starting with GM.  Asked for confirmation this morning (haven't yet heard back) but I'll bet it's supposed to be QM.  I wouldn't want their codes to be quite misleading...
