Yeah, that song struck a chord with me too, when I was quite young. I'm sorry he seems to have led such an unhappy life.

OT, but that is quite an incredible recording, isn't it?

I really loved his Baker Street, and the killer back end.  Few songs roll off with that long of an insturmental ending. Loved it!

Why would you be embarrassed about loving Stealers Wheel?

But what a wasted life. To be such a lovable musician and to still not feel the love. So sad. I have to say I always wondered what happened with his family because of the "please" line in "Stuck in the middle with you". He really hated his father and that's enough to ruin anyone's life.

At my weekly Tuesday gig, we did "Stuck In the Middle" and "Baker St." last night, in honor of Gerry.  His music is a part of my childhood, too.

I really liked Gerry's music, and production.
In the track 'Right Down the Line", the guitar lines in the intro are set back in the mix, I always thought that subtlety was a great idea. RIP

RIP

I liked Baker Street at the time when it was a radio hit, but never knew who did it.

Well, at least he apparently saw a decent (IMO) yearly income from the tune.

Addiction can be a very debilitating condition.

I was like..."Who?"

And they said..."He sang Baker Street".

I was like..."What song is THAT?"

So we pulled it up on the web.  I recognized it within milliseconds.  And I said..."But, where the heck does he say Baker Street in this song."

First line.  Oh.  Duh.

I always thought we were winding our way down a VEGAS STREET.

My bad.  How did I hear that song so many damn times as a kid and never, ever hear the title of it?

Love that song.

Here's another one...

Looks like the same "session", but with a half-emptied Whisky glass replacing the half-emptied carton of Rothmans on top of the Rhodes...

-Miming the synth instrumental melody by blowing down the end of a flute is a bit hokey though...

I loved Gerry's tunes way back to when i was knee high to a grasshopper. Two words here: Talent, Melody - that of which are both tough to come by, in any era. Great singer; great songs.

I'm not worthy. RIP.

What a terrific musician.  His songs were among the first "hifi" recordings I ever heard -- they had that 70s vibe without being sterile.  Hooky as hell, laid back, just terrific.  Sad loss.

Great songs. Inspirational to a kid caught between Joe Pass, and Jimmy Page.

Hey,
Re: Lyricon.  I can't help but asking... is that your Lyricon with the cwejman synth on top of it?

If so, that is seriously bad ass.  If not... it's still seriously bad ass.

Thanks!
