$100 Gift Certificate to spend
« on: December 30, 2010, 01:10:53 PM »

at Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, Sweetwater, et.al.

Not enough to buy most of the toys I like, but enough not to piss it away on junk.

Looking for ideas--cool toy, neat software app, helpful gadget for the project studio.

Something to think about with all the end-of-year closeout sales.

Suggestions?

I was actually eyeing the Harmony EFX VST...
don't have an iLok yet, so that runs the cost up...

exactly what i was thinking.

i think i have to replace my "main" pair every few years.  they just don't sound the same after a year or two.  i don't listen all that loud either.  they seem to become more "mid-rangy" sounding.

anyone else notice this?

Me.

An hour in a pair of 7506's makes everything else sound more midrangy to me.

So there.

People do seem to use them a lot for tracking.

I dunno - I find I'm perpetually short of things like canvas gig bags, comfy guitar straps and that kind of thing.  Not junk, but not exactly "score!" either.

I hate 7506s. They are only good for musicians already deaf from live monitors.

But that's off topic.

Got enough guitar pedals?

FE, Sweetwater has a ton of EH, Seymour, Boss, Digitech, Rat, etc. pedals for under a Franklin.

You could probably get two.

I used to have a pair that Paul McCartney borrowed for a vocal overdub once at Capitol. He loved em at the time.

Cover of "Maybe Baby", for the film of the same name.

Forgot em in my car once, which was burglarized, and cans stolen, boo hoo!

I like the Sony MDR V6 or V600

The 7506's can certainly get very loud but they're a bit on the bright side.

They're both the same price I think.  Seen them as low as $69.99 online.

And me!

Whew...they hurt my ears.

Like lots of things...they had their day. Just because McCartney liked them 'then'.....

Not to turn this into a headphone thread but my I do like those ATH-M50's.

I'm with Terry. Buy a pedal. Make that a Rat pedal. (trying to recall how many times I've seen Jeff Beck with one pedal. Rat!)

You could probably trade it to one of the GC employees for some recreational drugs.

I'm with the last 2 Posts... a Drink Holder, Some vicodin, and I'll add a few sheets of Acoustic Foam to lay on.
