« on: December 08, 2010, 11:37:27 AM »

Hi.
I would like to know which reamp box is the best.
Many say it is the red one form the www.reamp.com. Someone told me to check little labs. What do you think? what is the best out there?
I do not care how much i will pay, i want something amazing.

The Little Labs IPB is a very clean sounding DI and/or reamp... I can't see (hear) how that would be a bad thing for reamping.

For DI it could be maybe a little too clean, but sounds pretty great into the right compressor while freeing up a mic pre since it's instrument to line level.

Other options tend to employ a transformer, which is a different, but potentially great sound. I think I've used the original box a few times, as we had one, but I can't really remember for certain.

Maybe buy both from somewhere with a good return policy?

Hire Steve Lukather to replay it.

Re-amp and re-play are two different events.

For the "re-amp" side of things - there is no better tool that I have ever met than the Littlelabs "IBP" -- but as always - any user's mileage may vary.

I use the Radial X-Amp.

It is not the most expensive one, but it does a good job.

Or you can hire the entire Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader squad, have me come over, train me in playing the part again, and then have the cheerleaders cheer me on as I re play it for you.

You did say no matter the cost...

I have both the IBP and X-Amp boxes here and have had good results with both.

I thought about investigating the MW1 (Creation Audio Labs) earlier this year, as it seems to have some great features, but - well, there were other priorities and they're not easy to get hold of to demo down here, so I haven't pursued it (yet).

Jensen transformers has a free schematic on their website for a transformer-based reamping device. If you have some basic soldering skills you can build one easily. I've built one and it sounds great.

Just remember these 2 things cause they're both absolutely true and inviolate:

-Many people and especially someone should always be the largest influence in your decision
-you get what you pay for & more expensive is more better

Therefore, A) just pick the most expensive of the two you listed and it will be the best, or B) find many other people or someone else and pick the most expensive out of their suggestions and that will be the best.

PS - I have a passive Radial DI that I got for a hundred bucks. It has the "amazing" mod and now sells for 6K, making it the best. I will sell it to you for 5K.

PPS - no offence
