Hey gang,

Does anyone know of a secret global place to assure that Windows 7 NEVER, EVER, EVER makes a noise in your audio path? I had gone through and turned off all sounds bug log-off and shutdown one at a time, as that's all I could find for options, yet when I'm done with a folder copying instance (which I guess I had never done before when listening to work in a Sequoia session) it muted my audio and made a big windows-y "I'm done!" sound and then my program faded back up.

Mortifying.

Always something fun with Windows.

Configure your onboard audio interface to be the default audio device for windows. Then either don't connect it to anything or connect it to some output which can be muted. Preferably use the spdif output.

Go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound

Click on "change system sounds"

select "No Sounds" under Sound Scheme

click on "Apply."

Beware that some software such as i-tunes can change these settings when you install or update it. You'll also need to disable sounds in your web browser.
