Mixdown tape deck.....reasonably priced?
« on: August 23, 2004, 05:57:56 PM »

hey everybody,
I was looking into mixing the music on my computer down onto tape. Why? Because to my ears, it sounds a whole lot better.
I can spend up to $400. It doesnt matter what size.

I probably forgot something, but yeah.

in this market you can easily get a decent 1/4" 2 track for 400 bucks

i would expect to get a studer or ATR102....but an MCI jh-110.....probably

and those decks sound great.

just don't skimp on getting it set up well.

I think he meant he WOULDN'T expect an ATR 102 or Studer for that price.
Though you might fide an A80 that needs a little care for $400.  MCI, Tascam ATR 60, Ampex ATR 700 (same deck as the ATR 60).  Can all be found for $4-500.

It's not an Otari or a Studer, but my Tascam 42B ($285 delivered) has served me well after a short trip to the local tech ($100). It's a workhorse, not like the plastic 22-2 or 32s that pop up everywhere. No DBX, push it to 499, and hang on Smile
