Enjoyed.

BTW, I have a 'real' PassEQ .. Yes, it's YUGE ... and I might-could demo the plug.

Since we've all seen the phylum of posts that would follow, act surprised when I say the real thing is far better, but that the plugin is good and has its place.

Haven't heard either but if the Pass plug-in has the same kind of sound as the other SPL analog code plug-ins, I wouldn't get too excited.

I've been using the plug for one trick. It works nicely and I prefer over my other plug Eq options for the task. However, the GUI ...I do not need a large knob on plugins for the feel...

Never used the hardware

It's coded by the BX digital guys and sounds much better than the analog code plugins.
It certainly has a sound without any boost or cuts seems to soften the bass area.

Not sure if it is suitable for mastering though. Depends on your flavour really

i owned one (actually two at separate times) and i'll argue that you dont need a large knob on the hardware version either.

why they put the most giant (albeit nice) attenuator knob right in middle is beyond me.

any passeq users actually use the attenuator????
when i had it, i used it for gain staging into the next piece of equipment--maybe thrice--but never for EQ level balancing.

Yeah - I don't get it either.  I don't think I've touched that gain control but once in 2010, and yet those knobs are 2RU's worth all by themselves.

Between that and the volume of air in the chassis, it's really all that big in service of a control layout design concept.

I mean - in actual use, I guess I do kinda like the boost/cut band arrangement.  But the EQ sounds good enough that I would have appreciated a simpler layout with less rackspace consumption.

The layout of the Passeq is great! Plenty of real-estate to move around, and I use the gain pots regularly.  The more something looks like it came out of a Frankenstein movie the better...

or using a dvorak keyboard for typing...

I think this eq is a much bigger scam than the "Instant Song Mastering" thing.
Genwaveaudio anyone? Do a null test and you'll see what I mean.

All the best

Yes, many are exactly the same.  Only the graphic interfaces were different. They probably saw the same Robert Bristow-Johnson code as everyone else and Bam!, you're a developer.
