Klein & Hummel o 500 C
« on: November 03, 2010, 06:54:54 PM »

I landed a pair of these and after resetting up the control room, I could no be happier. Scary loud when called upon, but they are very balanced all through the volume range. I am really having a blast listening through tons of records, hearing better than ever the different tonalities of their creation and period. And I think the days are over about guessing what is going on in the low end. I built the control room with a ton of bass trapping in a "hollow gridded ceiling", and I think the room is handling the low end better than I had expected. Another thing, these monitors best all others I've had in here in terms of sweet spot. The horizontal and the vertical, but particularly the horizontal axis phase response is fantastic. Complaints are few. The 143 pounds a piece was fun, and two days after I couldn't wait to find some help, I am feeling the workout.

The new set up in here feels refreshing and I could hardly be happier about making music again. I'll be welding up some new racks for gear that should streamline the room further and I'll feel like I'm in a new studio. The speakers. Wow.

I can believe it. In one of the rooms here (smallish room), we have a pair of O 300 Ds married to a Bag End Infra-Sub 18 Pro, and it's stunning. My favorite place to listen, actually!

No wonder they're called Neumanns now!

I'm surprised more people aren't using K+H's.
They are a fantastic tool;--great to track on and great to mix on.
