"Sing" can be a broad term.

Having recently worked with Katy, I find the direction this thread has taken to be very uncomfortable.

She is a hard working professional.

I'm sure she is a hard working professional. She's made a big name for herself in a very competitive business.

My comments were maybe more suited for a raunchy roadhouse rather than this nice saloon.

However, base level titillation is a part of her career plan. Where does "I Kissed a Girl" come from? It's a cheap ploy to arouse our porny tendencies. Did anyone see her on SNL with the stretched out Elmo shirt bouncing about? Nothing subtle about it.

Entertainers, especially females, have always benefited from looking good, being sexy. It seems to have become much more explicit, girls hawking their wares hoping to get attention.

Not really my style of music BUT, I had a couple of her songs stuck in my head for days after first hearing them, and that doesn't happen very often these days. And the stuff is extremely well arranged and produced etc. A lot of fine craftsmanship going on there. I was admiring the vocoder effect behind the lead vocals as a thickening agent/doubler on "teenage dream". Very cool.

Oh and she's very beautiful too.

If lying butt-naked in cotton candy is part of being a pop star, a consequence is, your 'jahoobies' will be 'discussed' in a less than respectful manor, by a bunch of people you'd probably never want to meet anyway.  I imagine she knew what she was getting into.

How many woman artists (ballerinas, classical musicians, chefs, etc) are also hard working professionals and are judged by their craft alone?  I personally know dozens, and I would be far more offended to hear one of them being objectified, as they've done nothing to deserve it.  Additionally, the art-forms they (and all of us) represent deserve to be treated respectfully.

Listening to Katy Perry being interviewed, and the fact she got married last weekend tell me she is not really the floozy she is made out to be.

have any of the nay-sayers actually listened to her records? I have the first one and it is done VERY well. the production changes several times during each song, her inflections and emotives are clear and frequent. it is VERY POP. and compressed and tuned and, hey all those things we do these days to records. run an office and complain about Outlook. its not going away. AND she is adorable.

I like the mondo-cleavage she's sporting at the "Kid's Choice Awards".

Well that's one message... I was trying to subtly point out that Ms. Perry's cleavage is a dominant feature in her image -- and that she is being interviewed by an impressionable girl.  Ms. Perry is being looked upon in that photo as a role model and in that role, her breasts, both in size and in prominence, are a defining part of her image.  So how does this girl get an undistorted body image when that distorted image stands in front of her as someone to be idolized?

She is a very nice looking girl. She could use a bib, or a curtain.. or.. a dental smock.

Self-righteous.... hmmmm.... not meaning to be.  Just thoughtful and thought-provoking.

Feel free to say something demeaning.  I never mind when people demean themselves to demean others. Razz  Shocked

And yes, she's a beautiful woman.  I've never heard her sing but others say she has real talent, so all the more power to her.
