Already here, although at the Marriot... PickWick was full o coppers.

Which night should it be for the get together?

I might not have a room on Saturday, but that also mighht change...

I hate booking. hotel by walking in.

Cheers

PS Berolzheimer... you missed a great day for driving.

If anyone is here from LA and wants to risk their necks with me at the wheel going back... let me know.

PCH all the way down.

Cheers

Driving up very early Friday - staying at Hyatt Embarcadero.

I always book hotels via Hotwire - waaaaaay cheaper.

Still not sure of my movements once there - Hutch said something about parties - do they still do parties at AES?  Used to be the SSL party was the must-hang.

Also I'll be hooking up with a few friends in SF so it's busy times, probably very little time spent among exhibits.

Terry - I will definitely see you at your booth - and maybe I'll stop along the highway and pick some grass for you.

Greetings for the Moscone Center!  It's your typical first day slow-burn with the exhibit hall opening tomorrow.

As far as a meetup, I was under the impression that we were shooting for Saturday.  Frankly, any evening is ok with me; just need (some) advance notice.

Do they have wireless access set up?

Yes, but basically only in the main concourse.  Not in the lecture rooms, and spotty reception in the meeting rooms.

I made it finally.

Bit of hassle getting into the country and was invited for a sit down chat in the immigration office. Not what I needed after being up for 38 hours.

Going to head out for a beer and maybe bite to eat if anyone is around in 30-40 mins.

I may not be fully of sense though.

Loving San Fran already though.

Man if I could leave early Saturday morning and return Sat night, I could go. I am almost finished with this project and have to be here on Sunday for the approval (and payment) Man it's almost $400.00 RT. I'll try William Shatners "Mamby pamby" routine to see if I can get a break. Are there shuttles from the airport?

Yes.  And they're all required to charge the same price, which is $16-ish one way.  Follow the signs because it's counter-intuitive from baggage claim 'cause you have to back up stairs from which you came.

This is, of course, assuming you fly into SFO.

I got the BART today. It was $16.20 for a RTN ticket to Powell street. It was fast, easy and much more comfortable than a cab.

It leaves from the departures area of SFO, very impressed.

I can't make it to AES, but if you're interested in game audio my colleague David will present a talk there.

HMMM...

I took BART from OAK to Powell St.  The AirBART shuttle to the station was $3, and the BART itself (sorta PATH-like, btw) on to Powell was $3.85.

I think youse guys was robbed...

On another note, I am not at all impressed with the drunk crazy scary people all over the streets here.

Be wary of BART to/from Oakland today (11/5) - the sentencing for Johannes Mehserle, the BART policeman that shot a rider, is due today and Oakland may not take it in stride.
