Tuned the D6 this morning, pretty easy to do.
The tuners are really sensitive.
she's almost right on.

What an awesome instrument!

So Clifford, you gotcher Clav, a Wurly, a Hammond somewhere, and your Grand Piano in pieces......

When will you start your Fender Rhodes thread?

Jeff, I have a beautiful Rhodes Mark 1

Oh, he mean it...

He MEAN it!!!

Shocked

I can honestly say that I've ever seen one GLEAM so much under the cover... even when new.

-In fact, Clifford's goes beyond mere 'gleaming'... it actually GLOWS!

Makes me want to find the baddest, most inspiring player I can think of, and pay for a ticket to fly him and me out there, just so I can witness the absolute glory!

I have the feeling that I have more experience in my little finger than you do in your whole body about audio electronics..

That makes two Keiths that have never seen a cleaner, more splendid MKI Rhodes.

Nice and quiet, all the internals have been redone, New strings, felt and one of the pickups was cracked so that was replaced. The pre was rebuilt and the whole instrument was insulated.

How much did all that cost you, minus the shipping back and forth?

I'm considering a similar job on my D6.

Feel free to PM me if you don't wanna put that number in a post.

And congrats.

I own far too many keyboards, like yourself, too bad I suck at playin' 'em - but so worth it when a real player comes in, is astonished you have such a thing, and then wails on it!

Cheers.

Looks like I have to go up to LA tomorrow. I got a call from Stevie Wonder's Mick Parrish, numero uno D6 clavinet got back from Korea with some monkey pulling out the balanced XLR jack out of the rear. Mick didn't go to Korea this time so the locals had a field day.

So, it's up to the Nokia Theater manana to fix it up before the "Toys for Twats" benefit.

Funny, all the vintage keyboards he used are still there in LA, but in storage or at Wonderland. Only the D6's are still taken out on the road. Apparently, there is no substitution for those even though the Yammy Motifs has taken over the Rhodes duties on the road.

One thing I have done but not mentioned is the internal grounding. Due to poor power feeds and stage lighting, the pickups in the D6's are prone to buzz pickup. I have lined the internal case with conductive copper foil tape. That has created an enclosed metal box with the lid closed. Yes, it's a bit of effort as the harp must be removed, but it solves problems on the road.
