I've been listening to my older recordings, and though the engineering of some of them may be a bit spotty due to lack of skills or lack of mixing gear, I always had converters with good clocking, and therefore I feel they are real recordings. Most people on this forum probably have access to excellent converters, but a lot of wonderful artists record at home and they're using shitty converters with a shitty clock and that's an absolute tragedy because their music can be excellent. I think some grass roots movement to give these musicians better clock is in order. I think my original idea of having them buy used 10+ year old Lucid converters to clock their Digi002's to was a good idea. I just had a lovely woman stay at my place to record banjo and her vox (I didn't get any action) and I made it really clear to her that the recording process was completely independent of the releasing process. The most important thing was documenting her creativity at this moment of her life.
