Our RE-20 gave us troubles. Fine on quiet things but distorting on any serious levels. So, we called EV and asked for a quote. Someone on one of these boards said they were easy to deal with and expecting such we gave them a ring. They said they wanted $250 to LOOK AT THE MIC and, they would tell us what was going on before any work proceeded. The $250 would go towards the repair costs, but the labor could go past that. Shipping both ways was on us.

Fortunately, I found a gentleman at micdaddy.com from Lincoln, Nebraska, who quoted me $159. We shipped him the mic, he fixed it blew a new powder coat, baked it and had it back to me in days. The mic sounds wonderful again. So, I give micdaddy.com a hearty well done if your RE-20 needs some love.
