You are not the first to bring this up!!!  My exclamation points are kind of like Pat Metheney- at first it seems annoying and weird, but after a while you actually begin to like it, then eventually you begin to LOVE it!!!

You're only 1/2 right.  I've had 25 - 30 years to find Pat Metheney's music not "annoying"... hasn't happened quite yet.

We are selling emotions, there are no emotions in a grid

"Recording engineers are an arrogant bunch.
If you've spent most of your life with a few thousand dollars worth of musicians in the studio, making a decision every second and a half... and you and  they are going to have to live with it for the rest of your lives, you'll get pretty arrogant too.  It takes a certain amount of balls to do that... something around three"

Still Life (talking) changed my life. Right around the time I stopped trying to be cool. After that big change in my life, it was only a matter of time before I starting digging The Royal Scam, then The Pixies, The Dead and Mingus...never looked back.

btw -it's  "Metheny". Next time - you can use that extra "e" to avoid misspelling "Zeppelin".

I kid, I kid...

Ive seen him live a bunch of times on mushrooms, thats definitely a good time. I met him once, him and Lyle Mays are really great guys. I do get tired of it and go in and out of phases, but I'm like that will all styles of music.   If its a persons bag or not, you really cant deny the complexities of his rhythm and solos, Jaco sure thought he was good enough to jam with!!

I do love hard/dark music too!!

I'm predicting the Fletcher/Metheny collaboration album of 2016 which will spark the hard/dark jazz revolution!!    Bikers and yuppies will join forces for a whole new Metal Jazz movement!! It could happen!!Smile

Also, when we are dancing we are not aiming to arrive at a particular place on the floor as in a journey. When we dance, the journey itself is the point, as when we play music the playing itself is the point."  -Alan Watts

Great Album!!  You gotta hear the Pat Metheny Trio version of "so it may secretly begin"!!!  This one on you youtube is pretty good, but the live album version is better!!!  Such hard emotion!!
