room modeling software
«

Is there some software out there that will allow me to input all of the dimensions of a room along with other pertinent information and then be able to model the acoustics of that room?
I remember once that Sam Berkow once told me that he used AutoCad to do this. Anybody know of an equivalent for the linux platform?
Thanks,
-Andres

AutoCad & Co are just to draw plans in.
You can then export them in most room modeling softwares (Odeon, Acoubat, not sure about CATT though). Sometimes they need to be in DXF format and not CAD.
But those softwares aren't cheap...

Check out Room Sizer and Room Simulator from RPG. They do modal and SBIR calcs on Rectangular rooms (only), but they have proven to be quite accurate in my work. You can also enter surface absorption coefficients to be considered (in simulator) and it will run iterations of speaker and listener positions as long as you want looking for the best response.

There are several plugins for Sketch Up that can export to EASE or CATT
I use CATT but mostly to large room applications, rarely used it in studio design
RPG has some nice stuff and cheap like said before
