If Gentle Giant mated with some talentless, goth garage band from the 80s, and had an abortion, it would be Zdrastvootie. The lack of musicality, combined with the overwhelming sound of "we're so fucking indie and cool, that we don't care about being listenable," sounds like the most self indulgent musical masturbation I've heard since Axl Rose thought he could play piano.

Whilst traveling from Frankfurt to Paris, I spent a day in Strasbuorg. Upon exiting the train and getting into a cab, I asked the driver, in French, to take me to the hotel I'd booked.
Answering in English, the cab driver told me everyone I would encounter spoke English, so I could be lazy. He then asked me not to attempt French because it insulted him. Mind you, I had taken four years of French in school and up until that moment, had been pretty confident.
Not everyone in France responded to me like this, but it illustrates a point.
Music is a language, as is French.
Atonal (non-tonal) music is also a language, that is (predominately) mathematically structured and prohibitively convoluted. Without years of study, one can't understand it, and certainly cannot write within its parameters.
If you were a writer of words, and believed rearranging sentence structure so the subject, predicate, prepositions, etc were in an 'alternative' order and that doing so amounted to artistic legitimacy, you would have something equally nonsensical to what were listening to here.
The majority of 'indie rock' is composed of less ingredients than a jelly donut. It is music for the non-literate, by the non-literate. This is what happens when they get ahold of too many ingredients.
