Track Streaming?
« on: January 27, 2010, 02:36:06 PM »

Hello All,

I have a podcast/voice over session and the client wants a copywriter to call-in to listen and coach the speaker/talent.

I can place a Skype call for the call-in part. I could always put mic from Skype headset in front of monitor or use mic on webcam like a speakerphone. There must be a more elegant and better sounding solution.

Any suggestions for letting the copywriter hear as we're recording? Some sort of streaming set-up? I'm recording in Reaper on a PC.

Regards,

Greg

Are you recording to the same machine that you're using to run Skype?

If so, just have Skype use your audio interface as the "mic input".

Now the folks on the other end will hear your microphone.

I've always found it best to do this with skype (or whatever audio chat app) on a different machine (laptop, etc)...

Then setup as normal but feed a headphone mix (minus the incoming skype audio) back to the skype input.. So that they hear the mic in input, and the playback of the DAW mix.. And you can talk to them if you have a talkback circuit for their headphone mix...

Works best with at least a small console.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
