Has anyone got some thoughts/view/experience with the SE Titan?

At the moment it is insanely cheap...so am tempted to add it to my mic locker.

Main applications being males vocals, acoustic guitar and electric guitar.

A great mic-locker is like a great wine cellar.


You don't merely select a wine for it's flavor alone, but
also for the way in which the wine pairs with certain food.

Pairing a Mic (and a Pre) to the Source-Material in a way
that is Flattering to the Source in playback a typical goal.

Like wines, you have your clear, transparent whites
and your various shades of dark to darker reds . . .

My personal locker of Vintage Austrian and German Mics
from the 40's - 60's has a great range of tone-color.

And still, very often they're not the Right Mic for something!

Brilliant sources often need mellow mics, and vice-versa.


When adding to a mic locker, a personal goal is to see if
there is an instrument, or style of vocalist that I can't
be already cover with the current mics.  Does it cover some
sonic real-estate that you don't already have covered???

Seems like Larry has asked some great diagnostic questions about the new purchase.  

As I was checking on the web, it seems that the Titan has been replaced by the T2, which has a list price that is 2/3s of the Titan's list.  To move the old stock (if the manufacturer believes the new model to be an improvement), I'd imagine that the closeout price would have to undercut the new "street" price.

I'm pretty confident that there are those who love the Titan and others who have almost no use for it.  Do you have access to a dealer who could loan you one or with a liberal return policy if it doesn't work? [For you, of course.]
