What does it mean?
« on: July 19, 2004, 06:22:04 PM »

Hi Harvey,

Several years ago, in another forum, you admitted to the fact that you wrote (or should I say co-wrote) the song "Kumbyah".  You said that you never saw a penny in royalties.

Just what does Kumbayah mean anyway????

Regards

First of all, lemme clear the air; I DIDIN'T write "Kumbayah", I got it from the Weavers.

But, when we recorded it for RCA, our manager registered it with ASCAP and attributed it to us - without our knowing about it.  Now, skip forward about 40 years and I find this out in the ASCAP database when I look up my name.  I don't know if it was ever corected or not, but if you searched for Kumbayah in ASCAP, my name would come up as the author.

It means, "Come By Here", according to more knowledgable sources than myself.
