Apogee "X" cards....
« on: July 16, 2004, 09:05:47 AM »

Hi all -

I was checking out apogee's site reading about their X-HD card....  This seems pretty cool.  When you use this card and one of their devices (Rosetta 800 or AD/DA 16) does PT recognize ALL of the I/O like on the 192?  In other words, will it recognize the Analog inputs and the digital outputs at the same time?  Or are the digital outs "normaled" from the analog ins.

For example....  with the 192, I can run 8 analog lines in from a recording source.  Simultaneously, I can use one of the AES outs to send to a reverb unit.  Does this work the same way on the Apogee products.

My appologies if this is not an appropriate forum.  I just saw reference to these cards on here...

Thanks,
Thomas

In Short PT software sees the Rosetta 800 as 1/2 of a 192 I/O. So that means you can hook up (4) Rosetta 800's PER HD card. It will look like (2) 192's in the set up.
Rosetta 800 #1 (192 #1) 1-8
Rosetta 800 #2 (192 #1) 9-16
Rosetta 800 #3 (192 #2) 1-8
Rosetta 800 #4 (192 #2) 9-16

Hope this helps.

But what about the digital ins an outs?  How do they show up or do they?

The Apogee has a swith on the from panel that changes from the digital AES/ADAT?Analog. So that is where you have to do it. The Rosetta is an 8 channel unit Analog OR Digital ==> The HD Core card. But NOT both at the same time unlike the 192 and NO TDIF in the Apogee.
