That newer schematic looks good. I've edited my earlier post regarding wiring without switches; low-cut switch should be left open/disconnected, 6dB-pad should be left closed/shorted, assuming you want both functions left switched off.

Looks like a cool project guys.

Could anyone shed any light on bypassing these switches when installing the new pc board.

Don't wire anything to the low-cut switchso that it is left open. Wire the pad switch closed by shorting the PCB pads with a jumper wire.

(Edited due to schematic change).

Thanks Roddy.

Hope this is helpful.

I did all the cuts on the 47 mod pretty quickly and easily with one of these:

http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSea rchResultView?D=940136&Ntt=940136&catalogId=10051&am p;langId=-15&storeId=10051&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&a mp;Ntx=mode+matchall&recN=0&N=0&Ntk=P_PartNumber

Re the cut for the tube socket,

index.php/fa/13198/0/

If you cut along "A", and score the board along "B" (I did this on both sides) you can break the board along the "B" line by working it back and forth a few times with a pair of pliers.

In the "47 Inspired" schematic C4 is listed as a 1uf, but the  Mouser parts number comes up as 100uf. Am I missing something?

Oliver,

There are 4 pins on each side of the Tranny, how are the wires connected?

Is it the same as a BV8? (50 ohm / 200 ohm output?)

index.php/fa/13199/0/

On the schematic it looks like the 2 in the middle on each side...

In respect to a BV8 would this not be the correct hookup?

Hello Guys,

the part number is 140-xrl160V1.0-rc seems like that somehow the "." was replaced by a 0.

Best regards,

regarding the hook up of the x-former the diagram is right...

Thanks Oliver.

Also for the T49 a correction needs to be made to the parts list:

C6: 5pF - 598-CD5CC050D"A"O3F the "A" needs to be romoved.

This is the correct part number: 598-CD5CC050DO3F

I will correct those two little parts-list typos.

Thanks guys, the Forum strikes for modification...

I ordered the capacitor as spec'd on the schem (140-XLR160V100-RC). Mouser delivered the parts to me last week, and I sent everything to my tech on the weekend. My tech has just contacted me to say that he's finished the modifications and that he's just about to reassemble the mic.

Can anyone tell me if we've got an incorrect component in there if we've installed the 140-XLR160V100-RC?

Thanks

Yes, it is incorrect. I don't know much about tube circuits, so don't know why it is there, except to possibly further filter the B+ supply. I think the mic will work OK with the 100uF value, though may take a hair longer to power up.

The 1uF cap is in the original U47 schematic. My advice would be to replace the incorrect part with the correct one, especially as it is so cheap (6 cents), and will fit better.

Others here will undoubtedly have a better informed opinion.   Smile

Actually the 1uF 400V in a U47 / T47 is the Bipolar filter cap "C5" connected to the tranny pin 1.

I'm not quite certain of C4 - 1uF/160V polarized cap. I would assume stabilizing the input voltage to the valve from the power supply, which may be a bit flaky...

Thanks guys.  My tech has swapped C4 for one of the correct spec.  Will have it back within the week.

Anyone completed their mods yet?
