Heavy bass mode in large 600 person theater
« on: July 14, 2009, 02:46:24 AM »

movie theater, now a live room 100Lx60wx40h w/600 seats. Console is near the back wall. There is a huge mode here under the over hang that sticks out of the rear wall 6 feet. Mix position is just under the over hang edge. There is empty space under the risers that the console is on. But the rear wall is only 4.5 feet from the mixer and the ceiling of this overhang is only 3 feet above my head. The rear wall is also dead with rockwool and velvet. So are the side walls of the theater. High freq ressponse is also poor and the build up of low end masks what the room sounds like only a few feet out in front of the mixer.

What would it take to get a bass mode free zone a few feet wide near the rear wall under this over hang? There are thin products like modex plates but I am not sure they would work.

Also wondering if we can build a tuned trap below the console and under the mix position since there is empty space there?
