You're probably better off asking Fletcher about this.

I really don't get this! What's the point in this product?

Why just not get a passive stereo DI and send the mix to your preamps instead of paying this much. You can get a Radial for much much less.

To avoid ITB summing, and the digititus it can cause. Also there are analog summing boxes costing many times more than the all passive Folcrom. The SPL Mix Dream for example, has built in amps, dynamics, and insert IO ect, ect. for a bit less than 4K. There are some folks building their own passive summing boxes for much less than what the Folcom sells for though.

The box is great! Really provides a flexible work flow and allows me to maximize the gear that I already have. I can re-use my pair of Great River 500 MP2NV's, API 500b's and other outboard in mixing really easily with a simple re-routing of my patchbay. The way I use it, it's like having a really high quality console master section. I also like that I use the same pre recording as I do mixing.

For my dollars, the difference between my ITB mixes and mixes summed through the Folcrom through my outboard was 10000000% worth it.

Some might say that if you have to ask why, you do not need the box.

And some have dared say "why not?"...and then realized "but why?"

Cool
