italian indie rock
« on: July 12, 2004, 08:48:15 AM »

hi all,
I'd like to sponsor some italian indie rock music here in this forum. yes, I'm italian hence the reason.
well, Italy it's not exactly well known for his music, especially rock but there are a lot of interesting bands here around.
if you'd like to take a listen I'd be more than happy to know what you think about it.
here are some links:

http://www.onedimensionalman.com (one of the best act in italy. power punk-hardcore-garage rock, like shellac)

http://www.bogartz.it (garage-blues-rock. very very interesting)

http://www.blankdirt.it (hardrock)

http://www.yuppieflu.net (indietronic, signed with an UK label)

http://www.edwood.it (again indietronic)

these are the first five that come to mind.
hope you like'em.

Yeah! I know them. Not by person by I've heard their stuff more then once. Another great band, half italian half french, quite famous in the italian and french underground scene:

http://ulanbator.free.fr/

I'm their live engineer. The new guitarist used to play in one of the best (in my opinion) italian band ever:

http://www.massimovolume.it/

Here are two of the "big" names. They sell quite a bit of records and their gigs are full of people, a few thousands sometimes:

Marlene Kuntz (art-rock in some ways): http://www.marlenekuntz.com/

Afterhours (indie rock): http://www.afterhours.it/

They both sing in italian but the music has an international flavor.

fourth? no way. dEUS on top of the list.  Cool
Suds & Soda is one of the band's favourite bad now is tiring as it was Smells like teen spirits in the end. Anyway, dEUS are really an incredible band, they started off as a pseudo artpunk collective and now they are reaching a very high level in songwriting. Their lyrics are incredible too even if they're no english.
Any other belgian band you like? Soulwax?

BTW, dEUS will be out with a new album this fall, I'm gonna catch'em live on Sept.4th (my birthday....) in Bologna. It's been a long time since the last gig.

Oddio, un italiano su PSW! Mamma mia.
Better back to english. I've known Ulan for a couple of years now and there's always been Manuel on bass. Matteo is still on drums and I can see why you called him Matteino Wink
Anyway, they are recording some ideas for their next album right now. We've been to Florence a couple weeks ago. Police tried force me to stop the gig. Too loud! Wink
I'll tell'em I meet you here.

Hey, nice inputs. Do you know Meuws? He's an ex member of dEUS or maybe just a friend. But anyway, he's great. Magnus is also great. I ordered few days ago the solo project from Tom Barman (dEUS' singer) with Guy VanEuten. It's a piano and vocal CD. Mostly covers.
Any other intestign belgian acts?
