I guess that is one way to look at what mastering does (or more precisely what he thinks mastering does) It is too bad he posted this on the WWW because someone will see that and think what he is saying is the "gospel" truth.

(pun intended)

I don't know...

"Compresses as much as possible...makes as loud as possible"

Sounds about right.

Professional studio's are closing down, well educated recording engineers have to find other jobs, .... and the new trend is recording in a closet or in the bathroom, to "keep the noises out."

This business is sick !

He starts out OK then quickly goes down hill, at least he's not telling people they can do it themselves.

I like his accent. How many years will I have to live in the USA to improve my accent?

Yes, I too like his three tenets, and in his original order:

Mastering

1. Compresses as much as possible...

2. Raises the volume as high as it can go...

and THEN

3. Equalises everything so it sounds good.

Works for me.

Jesus Christ!!!

Next thing will be recording your voice with a shoe, If you have the laces tied up, then it will be brighter.

Oh and instead of using a stand, you can use a strippers pole to avoid reflections.
