i finally have a second to type a bit. i'm sure i won't dish out all the details you might want, but here is the general idea.
a producer/engineer friend of mine has reached a point in his career that he simply doesn't have time to producer and engineer all of his projects. the engineering tasks are keeping him from his responsibilities as the producer. he asked me if i would like to be his engineer. that's an insanely quick way of pushing through the entire chain of events but whatever.
so, he has been working on relocating to Nashville for some time now and finally pulled the trigger. saying yes to this gig is also saying yes to moving my family and studio to nashville. this is an opportunity in my career path that i simply could not walk away from. therefore, i moved. my family has not joined me yet, but the schedule here was rather aggressive, and we started our first project yesterday.
so basically i packed up my room, drove to nashville, loaded it all into a storage unit, then immediately took off for memphis. spent 3 days there packing up the big room, loading it all up and heading back to nashville where we spent the next 4 days setting it all up. we did all this to meet the deadline of when the band arrived.
it's been a crazy journey. i haven't seen my wife or kids in about 11 days, and i won't see them till the end of the month.
hopefully we will sell our house soon and can set a schedule for when they will join me out here.
