(1/1)

delilablack:
i stupidly formatted the partition on my tascam dp01fx digital multitracker thus erasing all my songs. i've since been told that the songs are not really erased merely inaccessible unless i know how... is this true or i am being toyed with?
HELP.
thank you.

compasspnt:
Don't know that particular model, but for hard drives in general, it may depend upon the type of formatting you did.

If it was a low-level, "fully erasing" type of partition/format, then the information is probably lost. This would have taken a fairly long time to do.

If it was "quick format," then the previously recorded information (or at least most of it) is still on the drive, but has merely been "marked" as space that can be erased when new things are recorded.

So, firstly, DO NOT RECORD ANYTHING ELSE ON THAT DRIVE!

Then you need to either get a Drive Recovery software programme to inspect it and try for recovery, or send it to a professional "Drive Doctor" service. These are usually somewhat expensive.

Good luck!
