Don't EVER drive without wearing your seat belt, and if you're carrying passengers who are dear to you, don't drive off until every one of them is wearing THEIR seat belts.

It can't be said enough times.

I don't understand why people don't wear their belts. I feel horribly vulnerable without one. I also like to occasionally take highway ramps aggressively (not illegally, mind you), and when you drive sporty, you tend to slide around - even WITH a belt. Since it's hard to find a car that comes from the factory with a 5-point harness, I wear the belt and cinch it up at regular intervals during my drive.

Here's something I did for AOL with car safety videos - numbers 4 and 1 are especially sobering.

nWhen I first started driving, in my early 20's, I was ambivalent about seatbelts.  Then a friend called me from Texas, very shook up, to tell me that last night he'd rolled his dad's Mustang at 75mph and if he hadn't been wearing his belt he wouldn't have stood a chance.  I've been adamant about them ever since.

A friend of mine refuses to wear his seatbelt, because :

I would not have made it through this incident a little over three years ago, had I not been wearing my seatbelt...

I love driving on the road.
Most of my driving is on rural roads where conditions change every metre.

I would suppose that it is possible that on many occasions it is likely that my vehicle registers a 'hot' signal level.

I cannot stress enough the import that I value on full attention, constant evaluation and rigorous appraisal.

Seatbelts are an absolute minimum.

Due to the type of roads I drive on, head on collisions are a risk that one has to consider.

I am totallly amazed and shocked at how LITTLE ATTENTION some people give to their driving. The very same people who will give 100% to their wardrobe, typing or home furnishing yet are comfortable chatting, gesturing and relaxing whilst attempting to control a motor vehicle.

I rant about this all the time to friends and family and it is a well know joke about me but it is incredible how blase people become about what is actually a very difficult activity.

Please be safe and give it serious attention.

And if you get the chance enjoy seriously good cars.

And surely it need not be said, but...

Do not use your mobile phone whilst driving, and...

ESPECIALLY DO NOT TEXT!

Ever.

After having to sell one of my beloved U47s, to help pay for Grandma's car accident (thanks sister in-law...)

My wife goes and gets me this:

2008 Corvette Z06.

Silver.

AWESOME!!!

I am going to drive it up the 101 / PCH to the AES convention in November.

I love my wife.

That's very cool, to see the guy hand make the transmission.

But my car is AMERICAN... and if nothing else, sounds better...

The rumble of a V-8 is a divine noise.

-But compared to the sound of a short-pipe radial engine?

..

.
