Exactly what they were thinking from all I've read.

If you read about it in detail, the car has a lot to offer for surprisingly little money - about 25,000 USD if it were sold here.  It is the Fiat group's attempt at an affordable compact sports car.

Here's a more complete article: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/alfa-romeo/2009-alfa-romeo-mito -ar53994.html

Not being well received here unfortunately.

Looks great but doesn't drive so well.
Class leader for driving is still the Cooper S apparently.
The Abarth 500 looks fun too though (and a lot cheaper).

I saw a mint-condition DeLorean yesterday at the movie theatre, and got a chuckle.

It still smelled like cocaine.

And I looked and looked for the flux-capacitor, but couldn't find it.

Poop.  I appreciate hearing the down side of the car.  I'm hoping for style and a fun driving experience.  Poop.

I keep seeing the topic title and thinking of Baron Bomburst (Gert Frobe, who also played Auric Goldfinger in the Bond movie "Goldfinger"... although his voics was dubbed in that film because it was thought his accent was too difficult to understand).

In the scene where he first sets eyes on 'Chitty-chitty-Bang-bang', he stands on the bridge of his ship and announces:

"I vont zat car... I... VONT...ZAT... CAARRRR!!!"

nice Cameo by Stanly Unwin too... who can be heard here, explaining the ins and outs of the new Fiat Mito.

You know, I've never seen Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang before.  But someone explained to me yesterday the premise of the film over dinner, and having never seen it, it sounds very disturbing!  Surprised

Thanks Terry!!  That's quite heartening.  The reviews I've read were positive but I don't know enough to sort the real tests from the Public Relations blurbs.  But quoting from your source, this is very encouraging.

It seems perfect. Alfa Romeo's Mito is compact, looks fun to drive and exudes a sort of cool-yet-hot Italianness. Its engines are small, which means economical, yet powerful thanks (in the best versions) to turbocharging. If it keeps its promises, I'll be in love. In many ways this is the future of cars as objects to enjoy. Cars need to become lighter, smaller, more efficient. And that means more entertaining. Which is excellent news.

LOL My mom took me to see it when it first came out and that was my thought as well... even as a 9-10 year old I thought it was pretty creepy (and it was intended as kids movie)

It gave us an excuse to sing "Shitty-Shitty Bang Bang" and if we sang it quickly enough our parents couldn't quite accuse of us of cursing...

Ah, good times...

afaik, the teslas were designed by henrik fiskar, who used to work for aston martin
and jaguar (ford). now fiskar has announced he will make his own electric
cars, which will compete with tesla. the fiskar sedan is called "karma".
