It also appears that in MAS plug in mode the latency report doesn't work at all. If the AU works in DP I suppose I'm OK, I just figured it would work best under the host plug format.

I hate maually nudging tracks.

kevin;  right, i didn't know there were mas versions. au should not have this problem;
if it is host specific to dp, please pm me so i can file a bug report with
izotope q.a. on behalf of dp users; i think this could be fixed.

Apparently the AU ADC works in DP just not MAS ADC.

The only downside is that the offline algorithm in the noise reduction plug in takes a lot of time to bounce.

The new version 1.20 addresses this issue: denoisers B and C are 3-4 times faster now.

Ive got a live band recording which was done through the computers internal mic which isnt the best sounding  as you can imagine

I  dont expect miracles but would it make this recording audible and how would you go about using it to do this?

It's not really designed to 'turn straw into gold'.  It might help a bit but, imo, it would be a lot of trial and error and way too time-consuming to be worth it in that application.  YMMV.

Revisiting this thread, my fingerstyle-guitarist friend sent me a track which was blighted by finger-squeaks. It was a mono track which they'd laid down as a guide, and not concerned themselves with the noises... but the 'vibe' of the playing was excellent.

When they came to lay down the REAL takes... well, I'm sure you can see where this is heading... After several re-visits to the tune, he eventually sent me the sound file, and after an hour or so with Rx, I sent him back the same sound file, but with the squeaks 90% removed. -I also did one with the squeaks ALL gone, but it sounded a little 'perfect' to my ears, and I felt that leaving in the 'sense' of left-hand movement made it sound a little more 'human. Anyhow, I let him know that if he still objected to the 'ghosting' which I'd left in, that I had another 'more perfect' version.

All I ever heard back from him was a string of superlative terms, like 'stunning', 'miracle-worker', 'genius' and so on...

I guess he likes what Rx does!

I have the feeling that I have more experience in my little finger than you do in your whole body about audio electronics..

This sounds more like a job for the Frindle DSM, possibly as the 2nd step after any NR, if it's really worth the trouble.

Was this a manual process or a threshold/range type of setting?

Sounds like a very useful tool to have in the belt.

Still interested to hear more about the acoustic guitar fix if other Keith is reading.

Also wondering if it is likely to help deal with an annoying grand piano pedal issue.
New piano, things not quite settled in and the pedal makes a sound not unlike a cable on an acoustic guitar body now and again.

Today I'm putting the finishing touches on a cd of whistling--sometimes with solo piano, sometimes with ac. guitar, sometimes with piano (or guitar) and strings and sometimes with 4 piece jazz rhythm section.  There is nowhere to hide anything in this cd and as I'm printing, I'm listening with headphones and I keep finding little, but distracting, mouth noises, page turns, assorted unidentified sounds--none of which belong in the final master.  And around 5 different times today, after using iZotope RX Spectral Repair, I have shaken my head in wonder and said to myself "it's magic".
