New Recording Show
« on: November 02, 2009, 06:06:05 PM »

Greetings all,

I just wanted to let the Pro Sound Web community know about a new home recording project I recently started. With over 20 years in the business (having recorded Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Ben E. King, Clutch, The Rollins Band, and Leslie West of Mountain to name a few), I wanted to share my knowledge and experience with the home recorder.

Geared toward getting the best results you can get with your gear,
www.plug-inhomerecording.com is full of great tips, including mic'ing techniques, how to use outboard gear and plug ins, and how to capture great performances. We have great segments featuring Dave Derr of Empirical Labs, guitar mic'ing techniques with Leslie West of Mountain, and Q&A's with David Taub of Next Level Guitar.

I think this is something that will be very informative and fun for many of the forum members here, so please feel free to check it out!

Okay, I'll bite.  Gotta say it looks like a lot of effort is going into your production.  Hope it pans out and grabs you the base you're going after.
Posting it here was a tall order and may or may not prove to be whatever.  But you did it, hope it flies and you make a buck along the way.  I have had more than a few good ideas, most should have just stayed that way!

Semper Fidelity,
Joe

If you show up and discuss with us, all is good.

If you don't, well then you have one post with spam in it.

I watched an episode for a couple of minutes.  It didn't do anything for me but maybe will for someone else...

Yeah, it's geared towards newbies and has some simplistic answers, but time will tell if it gets to be worthwhile for new people.  I do hope somebody has the sense to moderate statements there, like the one William quoted.  It doesn't do anybody any good to spread 1/2 truths and misinformation around.

Bullshit William.

Ever since I glued some tubes on to my composer pro.
and backlight them with some orange L.E.D.'s
that shit is totally analog sounding.

the sound is so phat I gain weight just using it.

What kind of glue is best for this mod...is there one with compression?  I'd like to do this to my computer so that everything I run through there sounds morbidly Phat.
