A shot of the decoupled floor.

Heavy poly down on the carpet and up the walls about 8 inches.
Kinetics isolation pads every 12" or so, this is the only thing touching the existing room.  We're about 1" away from all the walls as well.
2x4 framing, about 12" boxes.

Next stages of the floor.

Cavities filled with insulation.
Acoustic caulking then 1/2" plywood.

Next stage of the floor.

Foam roll.  The stuff used under hardwood floors to help deaden the sound.

Then another layer of 1/2" plywood overlapping all seams of the first layer.

On top of that went some heavy rubber backed carpet tiles I found used for $100 (stroke of luck for sure).

A shot of some conduit we ran to be able to get cables around the door without making a mess on the floor.

You can also see the framing around the door that went up.  This was to hang a heavy oversized inner door (see other pics).

The entire edge around the floor was filled with insulation, then a thick bead of acoustic caulking.

The drum room separation wall.  It was only secured to the floating floor.  The rest of the wall doesn't touch the room apart from some acoustic caulking down the sides (next pic).

Showing one edge of the drum room wall.  The wall floats between 2x4's that are attached to the room wall.  The gap is filled with acoustic caulking only, no other physical connection.

The drum room wall, insulated and drywalled both sides.  Solid core door for access.  Double pane thermo windows to be able to see the drummer.  The room was built for 2 drum kits, one behind each window.

There is a drum room sub-mixer for dialing in your own playback mix (I took a split off all mics and sent that to the drum room mixer) as well as submixing the drum mics back to the main board in the main room for others to hear the drums as they wish.

When recording, I run mics directly from the drums to the main board bypassing the drum room mixer.

One of the 2 oversized door sandwiches that were hung on floating door boxes built around the pre-existing door.

It is a 2x4 frame with 1/2" plywood, then Green Glue to a 1/2" drywall, then insulation and more plywood.  Every contact surface gets acoustic caulking.

The other layer of plywood making a finished door.  It is VERY heavy and was put up with 4 heavy duty hinges, plus a caster on the outer edge that rolls along the floor.

View into the drum room with drums in it (and the sub-mixer).
