Looking for a few suggestions for: reverb, Delay, Drive, and overall tone... What you use? What do you recommend? What’s in your current set up?


Ps: Music style rock/soul/alternative/ Lead and rhyt.

what amps and guitars do you have? what kind of sounds are you into?

I like several flavours of fuzz (fuzz face, tone bender, big muff..). a dallas rangemaster (treble booster) clone can push a tube amp into overdrive nicely (very 70's sounding). I also use a wah pedal as a boost sometimes.
for overdrive pedals I think the boss super overdrive is rather nice..

no delay or reverb here. I'd probably look into the line6 dl4 and electro harmonix holy grail if I were on a budget (fender tube reverb and fulltone tube tape echo if I had the money)

For overall tone improvement I plug directly into the amp

Fender HSS, Small 5 watt all tube amp ( love small amps) home made, im into anything from KOL lead to John Mayer..

no idea what's on the KOL pedal boards nowadays.. I think it used to be rather minimalistic with a booster and an overdrive pedal.

Some guys are looking for six different boxes which do exactly what they want. When my college age (guitar playing)son wanted effects, he went for the Vox Tonelab LE into his 30 watt all tube amp. Since he has learned his way around it, there really is not any sound I can think of that he has wanted to aim for that he has been unable to pull up. Not the cheapest solution, but it is a one stop way of getting everything and it sounds better than many of the other pedal solutions I've heard when we record with it.

What amp did he use?

Ibanez TS808 occasionally. Nice boost IMO.

What do you use for reverb if the amp has none?

Peavey Classic 30, 1 12" speaker. three 12AX7s and four EL84s.

My son is currently having a silver-faced Fender Showman (dual reverb)with 2 JBL 130s gone through by a tech. He is pretty excited about the new amp. Only downside is that this is as heavy as the bass amps his dad plays through.

JBL D130's or D130F's?  There is a difference.

I double checked and the speakers in the Fender guitar amp are JBL E-120-8.
