dirt cheap and simple soundproofing for a garage
« on: February 04, 2009, 06:26:17 pm »

I've moved my studio into my garage, and discovered yes, I will definitely need to do some soundproofing to be able to work on audio projects (or even listen to music casually) in this garage.  I don't know how long I will be in this space so a serious investment to solve this problem is not feasible.  Can anyone offer me some ideas for the absolute cheapest way to do effective soundproofing.  Having it look good is totally not a consideration.

I was thinking about stapling Roxul AFB insulation to all the walls (and especially the garage door).  Do you think that would do anything substantial?

Best,
Nicholas

I'm afraid I don't think there is such a thing as dirt cheap soundproofing... Sad

If you take the reverb time down in a room, you reduce the amount of energy that spills out - but marginally.

I second that !

Soundproofing cannot be cheap...

that is why I always tell people to choose a location with no neighbors for their studios !
