v676 racking can some one set me straight?
« on: January 08, 2009, 12:44:29 PM »

The various dials are a little confusing to me...
-hpf is pretty obvious
-stepped attenuator is as well, but what does the dial inside the knob do?
-and how bout the "attenuator" on the bottom

I guess I'm not sure how they all work together.

Also, regarding racking them up, if you could verify/clarify my understanding of the pin out that would be great.

pin 1 + input
pin 2 - input
where does the shield connect?
Jumper 3 and 4
pin 19 + output
pin 20 - output
again, where does the shield connect?
Jumper pins 22 and 23

The power connections are a little confusing to me.  The schematic has two versions, one with pin 29 as -24v and one with it as 0v
pin 31 +24
pin 30 ground

Thanks for your time!

hi there,

coaxial control is for coarse gain (rotary switch) and fine gain (pot).
pot at bottom is for line i/p attenuation. only has an effect when rotary switch is set to "L" position, which also alters the internal input padding. - purpose: in case you're feeding line level to the input.

you seem to have the schematic, so just connect the shields to any of the pins related to 0V potential.

as for power... are you sure you're not confusing V676 and V676a with later versions (V676b & c)? those have a different pin-out (and different circuit altogether).
if in doubt, just try and trace 0V & 24V on the circuit boards.
