D I question.
« on: February 03, 2009, 08:42:18 AM »

I want to be able to play bass and guitar in my control room. I would like to plug in in the CR and come out of my panel in the live room and into an amp. I would also like to be able to do the reverse. Plug a guitar/bass or keyboard into my panel in the live room so that I can route the signals into my mic pres.
So I need some DI 's. I kinda don't want a bunch of DI 's laying around on the floor. I think for now 4 or 6 would be enough.
I was looking through Radials web site and came across the Radial JD6.

Is this what I need? It looks nice.

Thanks.

Sure, the Radials are nice.  Jensen iron inside makes it so.
Consider a rack-mount version so you can avoid the "lying around" aspect.  A CR guitar or keyboard can plug right there.  Get one single for use in the live room.

And if you are crafty with soldering, a DI project is one step harder than making your own cables.  A passive DI can go in a tiny box, or you can build some into a rack mount box.  Check this Jensen paper for more info, although you can buy other DI transformers that are still quite good for $20 each.

check the papers "AS007" or "AS 066"
The Radial is a 066 in design I think.
