Ok, I've just gotta write this...even if it makes me look like a complete suck-up and pimp for all things Lucas/Manning etc.
When Terry and I were discussing the purchase of 3 CS-1 mics, I mentioned to him that we would LOVE to have a Deceiver. It just looked like a great idea to me. 2 guitar inputs, each with 4 possible outputs. Impedance matching, flippable ground and phase.
...cool.
I work by myself a lot here. No "tea boy", intern, second eng. around most of the time to re-patch another amp in the studio while I fart around with mutes and channel selections blah blah blah. This thing FIXED that problem. I can put up 4 amps/4 mics, plug the guitar hero into the Deceiver in the control room and instantly select from those amp setups with no signal loss/loading issues. Fabulous. Simple. Well implemented idea and you should bug the daylights out of Terry Manning until he sells you one.
Seriously.
I'm thankful that there's a well seasoned, technically savvy music recordist out there that has enough sense to DO SOMETHING about the common everyday problems this job presents. Good tool for the kit.
Thanks, Terry and Frank.
