"A Milli" By Lil Wayne
« on: January 05, 2009, 06:30:26 PM »

I really think this rap tune has a lot of merit.  He says some interesting stuff (in between the explicit parts). I don't mind the harsh delivery, but I think many people will.  But the observations are legit from my POV.  It is definitely a rant of sorts, but it seems thought out. Between, again, the vulgar parts.

I have recorded Him  - He was great BTW  and a nice guy too.

So I looked up the lyrics to see what you were talking about -

Curious what he has been up too.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?????

that seems "thought out"

I wonder if you are kidding

if not please explain what you mean  as I must fianally be old and not getting it.

I like the explicit parts though.

lol  I could write a paper on it, I guess.

It is the imagery that is impressing me.  It seems to give me a lot of flowing images.  I like that he refers to the white person seeing him as the problem, when in fact the white muscle (goons) are unimpressive to him as the goblin.

Also, he is carrying the BIc "torch" for the other rappers before him.

He prefers to die than go to prison, which has a sense of respectability about it.

Other references that invoked imagery were Tony Montoya and biblical chastity.  Not only for their references of his POV, but just as a flow of images.

Thanks Nick,

I love his early Cash Money stuff - he has the goods--I have not heard any of the new stuff.  It probably is better than reading it!

if you like this, youll love the Carter 2 LP. i like the minimalism/repitition of this track, though-reminds me of mantronix or something.
