Grace Design model 101, own it and love it.

Anyone else have opinions  on Grace design products?

So what do you like about it?  What else so have which you could use?  What is your typical analog chain before you hit the converters?  How does the grace recorded tracks sit in the mix when you are stacking tracks?

Specific microphones you are drawn to when you use this pre?

The 101 was the first mic pre I ever bought way back when I first got my first PT rig. Up until that everything I recorded with through an old Mackie 1604. Say no more.
 When I got the 101 i also got my first condenser mic, AT4070. I used those two on everything and even now I still love the sound, especially the 101/4047 on acoustic guitar. I have since purchase a few more mics, the best of which is a Rode Classic 2 and I also purchased 2 API 3124+. I love the APIs on everything with any mic, especially drums and bass. However, i still use the Grace for acoustic guitar and vocals occasionally. The Grace is definitely different, i find that vocals seem more "in your face" than the API but the API is way smoother and less edgy if that make sense. I have used the Grace on HiHats with an Octavia mic, very nice indeed. Put the hats exactly where I wanted it but not annoyingly.

Hello Guys,
The first time I tried a Grace Design was at C.Cash's studio.
I just loved it.  Found it very transparent.  

If I'm not wrong, we used it with a Rhode Classic and we were recording a Taylor guitar.  It sounded SO nice.

We did some drums after recording the guitar and I think soundwise the guitar and drums like each other when played back.

Very nice preamp I must say.

Twas a Rode Classic and a Martin D18 and it sounds awesome!

I had one for a few years & finally decided it sucked...sold it cheap and for the past 2-3 years I've had an ADK AP1 & a Great River M1NV and LOVE those two!  I guess I don't like "neutral" mic pres....
